Our route will take us through the Fuentes del Narcea Natural Park, one of the most impressive protected areas in Asturias. As we advance, we will pass through old mining roads, cross the beech forest of Monasterio, the second largest in Europe, and we will arrive at the Brañas del Narcea, a magical place where we can walk to the source of the Narcea river.



On this stretch, you will have the opportunity to admire the natural beauty of the Fuentes del Narcea Natural Park, home to incredible biodiversity that includes species such as chamois, roe deer, and even bears.



Start of the adventure in Cangas del Narcea



We start our route from Cangas del Narcea and head along the AS-15 to enter the Bear Route in Asturias.



Ascent to the Sierra del Pando and stops at historic chapels



We will climb along charming paths that will lead us to the Sierra del Pando, where we will make stops to visit the chapel of San Pelayo and the chapel of San Gervasio. From a distance, we will also be able to appreciate the chapel of the Magdalena in Trasmonte.



Exploration of the Fuentes del Narcea Natural Park



We continue our route to Gedrez, where we will take an old mining road that will take us through the Natural Park of the Fuentes del Narcea. We will cross the impressive beech forest of Monasterio and arrive at the Brañas del Narcea, where we will take a short walk to the source of the Narcea river.



Stop at a natural viewpoint and local wildlife watching



Our next stop will be at a natural viewpoint that offers spectacular views of the park. Here, with a bit of luck, we will be able to observe chamois, roe deer and even bears in their natural habitat before returning to Cangas del Narcea.
