Guided tour of the Neocave and Museum of Altamira

Get to know the Sistine Chapel of Palaeolithic art with this guided tour of the Neocave of Altamira. You will discover the replica of an archaeological site with more than 30000 years of history.



Itinerary

• We will meet at the entrance of the Altamira Cave at 3:30 p.m. and we will begin a tour of one of the most important Paleolithic sites in the world.



• Since the entrance to the original cave is not open to visitors, we will enter the National Museum and Research Center of Altamira, where we will visit the Neocave, a life-size replica of the caves.



• You will see the impressive cave paintings and we will tell you the story of the discovery of these drawings in 1879 by little María Sanz de Sautuola, who met them almost by chance. Deer, horses, bison... You are in front of the Sistine Chapel of Palaeolithic art!



• After 45 minutes visiting the Neocave and the Museum of Altamira, you will have free time to continue getting to know the curiosities of Altamira.
