Real stories from our hosts and travelers in Cantabria and Asturias.
Embark on the spectacular route to Tiatordos, one of the most imposing and admired peaks in the Redes Natural Park. Known as "the perfect mountain" for its conical and elegant shape, the Tiatordos awaits you with a demanding but absolutely unforgettable tour. This guided route is ideal for experienced mountaineers who want to face a real challenge in the middle of Asturian nature.
A wild route between Asturian beech and sheepfolds
The route to Tiatordos begins in the picturesque village of Pendones (Ponga) and stretches for 14 km with a cumulative elevation gain of 1,180 metres. During the ascent, you will cross leafy beech forests, traditional sheepfolds and a narrow gorge that marks the beginning of the final section. As we gain altitude, the views open up to offer us breathtaking landscapes of the Ponga Natural Park and, in the distance, the Picos de Europa.
Breathtaking panoramas from the top of Tiatordos
Reaching the top of this route to Tiatordos is a prize. From its natural vantage point you will be able to contemplate a 360º panoramic view with views of the entire Tiatordos massif, the deep wall of the Copa (with more than 500 meters of vertical drop), the valleys of the Redes Natural Park and the horizon dominated by the Picos de Europa. An incomparable visual reward after an intense day in the mountains.
One of the most spectacular routes in the Redes Natural Park
The route to Tiatordos is, without a doubt, one of the most valued crossings among hikers in northern Spain. Not only because of its beauty and physical challenge, but also because of the symbolism that this mountain represents in Asturian mountain culture.
