The Cangas del Narcea Wine Museum It is located in the southern part of the town, in the popular Winery district of Santiso. The complex, after the expansion works, reopened its doors to the public on July 9, 2010. The new building has a Elliptical design, similar to a basket, with an enormous architectural load within the respect for the environment. The design, as a whole, aims to offer the visitor a a walk through the wine culture of Asturias. The Museum's permanent exhibition consists of three adjoining buildings: The visitor discovers in the main building six thematic zones divided into two rooms.
The visit is a tour of the Vineyard work, his Millennial history and the unique natural features that make This wine is a unique product, as well as the different tasks and calendars of both the vineyard and the winery with their many peculiarities. The tour also allows us to see an extensive Exhibition of pieces, each with an almost unique singularity. The visit will continue in a second space accessing a shed from the back of the museum where you can contemplate an exhibition of large pieces, unique for being conceived to provide a solution to specific needs. You will also be able to observe a Planting and some Traditional trellises with native vine varieties.
Finally, you can also discover, in a third building next to the museum, a Traditional Asturian winery with an old beam press whose age is close to five hundred years old.
Visitors will find in every corner of the museum multiple museographic resources based on the New technologies such as audiovisual and manipulative, which will undoubtedly contribute to completing a Attractive visit because of the difference. The Wine Museum is accessible to people with motor disabilities, the rest of the activity is not adapted and, therefore, it is not accessible.
As a complement to the visit to the Museum, you can take the Wine Walk, a pedestrian path (not accessible) that runs along parallel to the Luiña River- a tributary of the Narcea- which joins the winemaking district of Santiso with the wine-growing area of Las Barzaniellas (1.3 kms) and with the Cangas neighborhood of Ambasaguas (0.9 kms), so called because it is located on the confluence of the Luiña and Narcea rivers.
The promenade is ideal for walking or running with friends or family. We accept small pets as long as they can be worn around the neck. In this activity we offer two options: visit the museum and take the guided tour of the winery or just visit the museum. In both cases for the minors is free. For the visit to the winery it is necessary to book in advance.
